Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff of the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ System Enterprise,
After nearly a decade of dedicated service and steadfast leadership, has announced he will be retiring this year at the end of July. After a long and distinguished career in journalism, President Mong joined ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Dallas in 2015, becoming the institution’s third president. He has played a pioneering role and led the university through a period of growth and significant transformation.
Under President Mong's visionary leadership, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Dallas saw an increase in student
enrollment and retention, more than doubling the number of degrees awarded. During
his tenure, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Dallas added a student center and its first residence hall, providing
needed resources and opportunities for students. President Mong has also shepherded
the development of a new STEM building. Once complete, it will provide teaching and
lab space necessary to produce more career-ready graduates in high-demand healthcare
fields.
President Mong's commitment to excellence in education and community engagement has had a profound impact in the community. He built and fostered integral community relationships and partnerships with local school districts and neighboring community colleges to create unique educational pathways for students. President Mong was instrumental in bringing community leaders together around the creation of a new regional police training academy that will be located at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Dallas. President Mong’s ability to bring people and communities together has meaningfully transformed ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Dallas’ profile, impact, and influence.
Please join me in thanking President Mong for his service and unyielding dedication to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Dallas and its students, families, and communities. The progress he has made and the challenges he has overcome will leave a lasting legacy.
As we transition to this important next chapter following President Mong’s retirement, we remain committed to ensuring ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Dallas continues to have strong leadership and support.
My thanks to each of you for your ongoing support and commitment to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Dallas and the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ System. Together, as One Team, One System, we will continue to build a brighter future for the communities we serve.
With gratitude,
Dr. Michael R. Williams
Chancellor
