The at Fort Worth's is launching a new online graduate certificate in to equip public health professionals with the skills to analyze spatial data and visualize health trends in their communities.
The 15-credit-hour program focuses on geospatial analysis, remote sensing and data visualization with a public health emphasis. The five courses can be completed in eight-week terms, offering flexibility for working professionals. Applications are now open for the summer term, with a deadline of May 1.
鈥淕IS tools are transforming the way public health professionals analyze data and make
decisions,鈥� said Kari Northeim, assistant professor of population and community health.
鈥淭his certificate helps students apply that technology to real-world challenges.鈥�
The curriculum consists of five courses: 鈥淔oundations of Biostatistics,鈥� 鈥淧rinciples of Epidemiology,鈥� 鈥淕IS in Public Health,鈥� 鈥淕eographic Distribution of Health and Disease鈥� and 鈥淕eospatial Applications.鈥�
Graduates will be able to use GIS software to analyze disease trends, understand the geographic distribution of health conditions and support data-driven policy decisions. The certificate is designed to complement existing degrees in public health and broaden career opportunities in research, practice and leadership roles.
